Harmon Visit

Our friends Tracey and Katie came over for a visit earlier this week (and brought wonderful sustenance!) Katie also made Jude a beautiful banner in her summer sewing class. It’s proudly hanging in his bedroom/office/guest room. Thanks Katie!

How to add *many* pics to a post w/lightbox

use the following code to add 1 or many (sequential) smugmug pics to a post.

just change the “start” and “num” values to correspond to the starting number and how many of your new pics in the SmugMug RSS feed.  for example this code below will add pictures # 6-8 only (meaning start at #6 and show two pics total which would be #’s 6-8).

[smugmug url=”http://raeandk2005.smugmug.com/hack/feed.mg?Type=gallery&Data=4579796_nitE7&format=rss200″ start=”6″ num=”2″ thumbsize=”Th” link=”lightbox” captions=”true” sort=”false” window=”false” smugmug=”false” size=”M”]

when creating a post with new smugmug pics recently uploaded you need to delay the publishing by 30 minutes.  on the right where it says publish immediately, click edit and choose a time 30 min. after the uploading of pics to SmugMug the rss to update.

4am pics.

I’m getting better at this no sleep thing.

Six days old!

Well, it’s been a whirlwind six days since Jude made his illustrious appearance. I cannot lie when I say he is the most beautiful, perfect baby I’ve ever seen. But everyone told me I’d say that. Jude had a little trouble getting started on nursing, but we persevered, with the screaming, oh the screaming. His Screaming Screaminess who Screams-A-Lot couldn’t quite figure out that he was hungry until he was STARVING and SO hungry that he couldn’t even focus to latch on. He’s gotten much better, I’m happy to say. After we met with the lactation consultant on Monday for our follow-up and nursing tips, she felt he looked a little jaundiced, so sent us over to pediatrics. Sure enough, he’s an 11 on the jaundice scale, whatever that means. We were sent home with instructions to give him a sun bath. He very much enjoyed it, and I think we will spend more time on our covered patio in the mornings and late afternoons. Brought him back on Wednesday for a follow-up and his levels were down to 10.5. I was all ready to be disappointed at such a slight decrease, but they were all, “That’s great! He doesn’t need any therapy or baby tanning beds. Keep up the good work and we’ll see you at his two week appointment.” With that hurdle over, we’ve just been hanging at home, working on getting the whole arms thing figured out. Whenever he’s unwrapped, he shakes his little arms in the air, fists aloft as if to say, “Oh the humanity of life! Don’t tread on me!” Quite the little revolutionary. Oh, how we love this little guy. Pictures coming soon, I promise!
