Looking Forward

Kevin continues to slowly improve. He is sleeping less during the day, eating more and even occasionally cracking  jokes.  I’m tickled pink to watch the improvements. He still has several symptoms from the pneumonia, thrush and shingles he is trying to shake as well as some uncomfortable symptoms that come from liver function issues.  We are making good progress on the thrush and shingles and hope to make some strides on the liver symptoms tomorrow.

Now that I’ve been here for a few days and had the chance to get into a routine with Rachel and Kevin, I’d like to answer the question that several of you amazingly generous people have asked: “How can I help?”

I’ve organized and edited Rachel and Kevin’s Wish Lists on Amazon and identified items they need and in some cases would just like. If you’d like to buy something for Jude and Evie for Christmas, or help with some of the medical supplies Kevin needs, or purchase some home items so that we can better care for the house below are links to those specific lists.

As always, thank you so very much for your prayers, love and support. Kevin and Rachel REALLY wouldn’t have made it this far without the AWESOME community of people that have rallied around them and their family.  In Sarah-speak “Y’all ROCK!”.

    • Hi Steve! The auto-ship address on Amazon should be set to the correct place but just in case:
      Rachel and Kevin Hill
      c/o the Vornbrocks
      10315 Penrose St
      Sunvalley, CA 91352

    • Hi Shari! Two generous donors have offered to purchase all of Rachel’s wish list items. The only remaining items that she and I could come up with would be skin care and make up items (of which she has none of out here). Our sister in law, Mary Kay consultant Jennifer Marinacci would be the best person to talk with about Rachel’s skin type and specific skin care needs (she has consulted with Rachel in the past and even knows what types of products Rachel has purchase for herself). You can reach her at http://www.marykay.com/jmarinacci/en-US/Pages/default.aspx?lcov=1

  1. When ordering things off the wish list, does it remove them once bought? It’s been my experience that it doesn’t. I just don’t want to duplicate something.

  2. Hi,
I have a rolling hospital type tray that went with a hospital bed that I would like to give you if you would like it. Maybe Paul could pick it up? We are just down the street from them.
    Praying for you all!

  3. Hi Sarah,

I wondered if Jude & Evie’s wish lists are combined? Just want to make sure – would like to get them both something. I am a friend of Denise Marinacci’s – and this family & their story has really touched our hearts.
    Thank you.

    • Hi Sandra, thank you so much! I’m not sure what Sarah put, but yes I think the lists are combined. They are so close in age they play with a lot of the same things. Evie also has her third birthday on January first. I’m wanting to get her a bitty twins doll from American Girl (they are nice dolls for the three year old set) but haven’t had the chance to go purchase yet. If you or anyone wanted to get her any clothing (15 inch doll clothing) or other accessories, I know she would love it. She is very into dolls and I want to get her a nice, heirloom quality doll that she could always remember as being from her father. Other than that, honestly the kids really don’t need much. It means so much to us that folks want to get them ANYthing, as it’s just something I can’t even fathom thinking about right now, and they are old enough to get excited about such things. Evie loves little things like playdough and baby dolls and Jude loves legos and cars, they are so very typical in that way! Love to you all and thank you for thinking of us in this time!

      • Hi Rachel,

It is so our pleasure to send something along for Jude & Evie! We have a 2 year old son, Charlie, and when I saw the picture of your family, well – my heart melted.
I ordered some things for them just earlier this morning. Hope they love them, and God Bless.
We will keep you all in our prayers.

  4. It’s a shame you don’t have a donate button! I’d
most certainly donate to this outstanding blog! I guess for now i’ll settle for book-marking
and adding your RSS feed to my Google account. I look forward to fresh updates and will share this website with my Facebook
    group. Chat soon!

  5. I can’t get on my Amazon account. Is there anything you can list off the top of your head that we can provide and or help with? Would money be more affective at this time? We’d like to give in some small way to your family.
