The Daily Jude with Special Guest Star Evie

Forbidden Fruit…

Jude has almost no electronic toys.  This was a conscious choice since I have struggled with ADHD my entire life, and we want to do everything we can to minimize the heritability of the condition, since environment in the first few years has a big influence on it.  The result for now, of course, is that Jude is drawn to electronic toys like a kid in a candy shop.  This toy made it home from my sister’s house, and is on its way to the thrift store.  Jude found it in the donate box and pulled it out while my back was turned.

Some people might not believe that Evie’s around, due to the extreme lack of pictures.  Well, for starters, let’s just say that her newborn shoot did NOT go well.  It was a sign of things to come.  She was cranky and uncomfortable, so I gave up on the shoot and focused on the baby.  She’s had a rough go of things, and so, consequently, has mommy.  Nursing was challenging, partly due to the fact that she was in the NICU for five days and I couldn’t nurse for the first three of those.  After that, she and I both came down with thrush, and it took a while to get it diagnosed.  We got it mostly cleared up in her, and for the first time, I saw a baby who didn’t deserve the nickname, “Her Screaming Screams-A-Lot Who Screams All the Time and Won’t Shut Up With the Screaming”.  She was a real person!  One who could be awake for whole minutes at a time without crying or furiously chewing on a pacifier to keep from crying.  But alas, the thrush came back and it was only a brief respite from the crying screaming her brains out.  We are on a more aggressive treatment plan this second time around and here’s hoping we can get things totally cleared up.  Things are already starting to get a little better, and mommy is in not such a tough place from exhaustion anymore, so I promise that Evie will be joining in for the (almost) daily Jude more often.

  1. Oh poor little Evie 🙁 I hope the aggressive treatment works. And I do so look forward to the daily Evie’s!!!! Can’t wait for May!!!!

  2. Seems mommy and Evie are having a rough time. Have you tried holding her – in a rocking chairin a quiet room and playing soft music… no rock music etc… Bethoven’s Pastorale (sp?) is usually a good one – might calm down you and Evie…let me know how and if it works, lots of love, Irene
